2006.10.3 xp-cincinnati meeting

Met at the usual time at the Children’s Hospital. There were initially no presentations planned (OpenSpace, as it is styled, instead) but there had been interest in mocking so Jim Weirich volunteered to present on his library, FlexMock. We had about twenty people altogether—everyone fit in nicely. The first half of the meeting was just a freeform ‘cool thing that happened last month’ roundtable, each sparking little discussions.

One product of these discussions was determining the topic of the next meeting which was decided to be a kata session working either on someone’s Real Problem™ or just something out of the RubyQuiz book. Mark also asked if I would present on Haskell in the December meeting since I had mentioned it as my Cool Item. I agreed to try to come up with something.

For the second part, Jim’s presentation was fun, particularly to those who were not familiar with mocking or who had been constrained by other languages or toolkits previously. All in all a fun night, sadly I could not join the others for the traditional after-meeting-meeting at Za. Perhaps next time.
